notes	五月五日是观鸟日，当日记录鸟种61种。我们新疆观鸟会一行5人四日晚赶到了乌伦古湖边的福海渔场.一大早就在小雨中奔向了吉利湖通往乌伦古湖的入水口，湖边的老芦苇都被收割了，新的还没长起来，一片冬日的荒凉景象-与去年7月来时的天蓝草绿万鸟飞翔的美景形成鲜明的对比。湖里的鸟不多，湖边放牧着骆驼和羊群。一个哈萨克老牧民看见我们的车和架起的望远镜骑马赶来，用很狐疑的眼光看着我们，当听说是保护鸟类的才收起了敌意。他义愤的告诉我们：十多年前这里生活着很多鹈鹕，疣鼻天鹅及其他鸟，当地牧民和它们和平相处，并介绍按哈萨克古训，凡伤害天鹅或检蛋的人都会都会遭到死亡的惩罚。而近年来环境受到了破坏，割芦苇，无序捕鱼，捡鸟蛋等对鸟造成伤害，鹈鹕已十年没来，天鹅也少多了.还忧虑的问我们说，去年这里的两只天鹅孵了两只小鸟，今年才回来了两只，另两只是不是被人打掉了，我们无言以对。告别哈萨克老牧民，前往吉利湖的南岸，鸟岛及乌伦古河入水口三个点。湖边的鸟也不多，种类却不少，看到了少见的4只蛎鹬，还有20多只毛腿沙鸡分几个梯队在空中炫耀做飞行表演。中午在福海县城吃饭后，开始按计划进行在福海的两个重点：在二道河子寻找河狸，沿乌伦古河寻找西红脚隼。河狸主要分布于200多公里外位于中蒙边界的布尔根河河狸保护区（布尔根河是乌伦古河的两大支流之一），下游的分布没有记录，据钓鱼的人说每年夏季发洪水是有不少河狸被冲到了下游，它们把二道河子当成了临时家园，在这里伐树筑坝做巢。我们在二道河子边看到了河狸的洞穴，被伐倒的杨树等遗迹（有一棵胸径2米的大杨树根部四周被啃了十几厘米深），大约时间太早，没能看见河狸，但找到了它们在下游也有季节性分布的证据。沿乌伦古河河谷继续前行，在河谷里寻找西红脚隼，看到隼就停车观察，历时四个多小时，走了100多公里也没能看到。据手册介绍西红脚隼在国内仅分布于乌伦古河河谷，此行一只未见不知是数量太少还是尚未迁来。当日宿于富蕴县城。
